# Heirloom

> Heirloom is a physical video book company that lets customers upload photos and videos to a web-based builder, then ships a rechargeable hardcover book with an integrated HD IPS screen (5", 7", or 10") and speaker that automatically plays the media when the cover is opened. No wifi, app, or technical skill is required by the recipient.

- Heirloom is a physical product company, *not* a software/SaaS product — revenue comes from selling and shipping video books, custom covers, gift boxes, and gift cards
- The builder at make.sendheirloom.com is a web-based media editor (drag-and-drop arrangement, cover design, music selection, preview) — it is not a downloadable app, though an iOS companion app also exists
- Video books are loaded at Heirloom's fulfillment center in Bethesda, MD and shipped pre-loaded, or customers can order blank books and load them via USB
- Founded in 2020 by siblings Ashley and Zack, inspired by sending videos to their 92-year-old Grandma Fran during COVID-19 isolation
